Aadhaar Card Status - Check Enrolment and Update Status

The Aadhaar card, a unique 12-digit identification number issued by UIDAI, is a critical document for accessing various services and benefits. Checking the status of an Aadhaar card application or update is essential to ensure timely access to these services.

This article explores the process, importance, and methods for tracking Aadhaar card status efficiently.

  • Aadhaar Enrolment Status: After enrolling at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) or Permanent Enrolment Centre (PEC), you receive a 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID) on an acknowledgement slip. Checking enrolment status confirms whether your Aadhaar number has been generated, typically within 10–90 days.
  • Aadhaar Update Status: When you update Aadhaar details (e.g., name, address, mobile number, biometrics) online or at a centre, you receive an Update Request Number (URN) or EID. Checking update status verifies if the changes have been processed, usually within 10–30 days.

Both processes are free, and UIDAI provides multiple platforms (website, apps, SMS) to track status securely.

Prerequisites

To check Aadhaar enrolment or update status, you need:

  • Enrolment ID (EID): 28-digit ID (14-digit enrolment number + 14-digit timestamp) from the enrolment or update acknowledgement slip.
  • Update Request Number (URN): 14-digit number provided for updates (if applicable).
  • Aadhaar Number: 12-digit number for updates (if EID/URN is unavailable).
  • Registered Mobile Number: Linked to Aadhaar for OTP verification (optional for some methods).
  • Acknowledgement Slip: Contains EID/URN for reference.

If you’ve lost your EID/URN or lack a registered mobile number, alternative methods are available (see Troubleshooting section).
